The College of Materials Engineering was formed in 2007 as an update to the Department that was established in 1993. The College of Materials Engineering at the University of Babylon is the leading College in materials engineering at the national level, not only because it's the first in this area, but also because it has a distinctive vision based on continuously deepening specialised expertise.

The Polymer Engineering Department at the College of Materials Engineering, University of Babylon, will host a discussion session on the topic of "Preparation and Characterization of Super Absorbent Polymers (SAPs) for Engineering Applications Using Various Techniques." The session will be led by Professor Dr. Awda Jabbar Barihi and Assistant Professor Dr. Saleh Abbas Habib, both faculty members at the College of Materials Engineering. The event will take place on February 19, 2022, and will focus on the latest techniques and methods used in the preparation and characterization of SAPs, which are widely used in various engineering applications. The discussion will cover topics such as the physical properties of monomers, the chemical structure of reactants, and the cross-link density of SAPs. The session aims to provide a platform for researchers and experts to exchange knowledge and ideas on the latest developments in SAPs.
