The College of Materials Engineering was formed in 2007 as an update to the Department that was established in 1993. The College of Materials Engineering at the University of Babylon is the leading College in materials engineering at the national level, not only because it's the first in this area, but also because it has a distinctive vision based on continuously deepening specialised expertise.

The Dean of the College of Materials Engineering at the University of Babylon, in collaboration with the Government Media and Communications Department, printed vertical and wall posters in the corridors of the college to promote the rejection of hatred and extremism. This initiative aims to contribute to raising awareness in society, especially among the youth, about the dangers of hate speech, which can lead to provocation, hatred, and negativity. Hate speech is a global phenomenon that transcends borders, cultures, and religions, and fighting it requires the collaboration of all parties. It poses a daily challenge to the stability, security, political, economic, and social systems of countries.
